Young Investigator Awards
The PHYS Division will highlight leading research by postdoctoral fellows during the Fall 2025 National ACS Meeting (held August 17-21, 2025 in Washington, DC) through a series of special awards. Awardees will be invited to present a special award talk in a PHYS symposium and to attend the PHYS executive committee dinner. The young investigator nominee should also submit the usual contributed abstract to the PHYS program before the online submission closes. Selections will be announced shortly thereafter.
Application Procedures: All interested applicants should submit an abstract for the FALL ACS Meeting in Washington, DC (Aug 17-21) when MAPS opens. We will be posting the Call for Papers for that meeting sometime in Spring 2025. The application should consist of:
- Application Letter. Your application letter should include the following: A short description of the work that you will present during the Fall ACS Meeting (typically not more than 1-2 pages). The specific symposium (or symposia) to which you have or will submit your abstract. (If you have already submitted your abstract, please include the ACS Paper Number of your submission.)
- The applicant’s current CV
- Two letters of support, one of which is typically from the applicant’s postdoctoral mentor. These letters should describe the applicant’s contributions to leading research and his or her accomplishments to date.

Self-nominations will not be accepted.
Nominations from previous years do not carry over.
Eligibility: The applicant must hold a postdoctoral appointment at the time of the submission of the application. The nominee MUST be a member of the PHYS division.
