2017 Graduate Student Award in Theoretical Chemistry


The PHYS Division of the American Chemical Society is soliciting application for the Graduate Student Award in Theoretical Chemistry. The Award consists of a $500 prize and an invited talk at a PHYS Symposium at the Fall National ACS Meeting 2017 in Washington DC.

We invite applications from current graduate students in theoretical chemistry. Nomination is to be done by the PhD advisor of the applicant. The merit of the PhD research of the applicant will be the basis for selection of the Awardees. The following material should be submitted to the secretary of the Theory Subdivision, Jan Steckel (steckel@netl.doe.gov) by the nominator as a single pdf file by February 1, 2017:

  1. CV and publication list of the applicant.
  2. A one-page summary of the PhD research, exclusive of figures and references.
  3. A nomination letter from the research advisor citing the specific contributions of the applicant and their significance.
  4. Up to two seconding letters.
Applications from women and members of minorities underrepresented in the sciences are strongly encouraged. All nominators and the nominee must be a member of the PHYS Subdivision. You can join for as little as $15 per year. Note that ACS PHYS will not cover the travel/registration for the graduate award winner.
